Engineering a competitive edge

Helping ambitious firm of consulting engineers gain BS10500 certification

One of the UK’s leading firms of consulting engineers was looking to further enhance its international reputation and gain competitive differentiation by achieving certification of its anti-bribery management system to the BS10500 standard. Mindful of the risks of corruption in the construction sector, Pell Frischmann rightly felt that certification would help secure more contracts.

Interchange worked with the firm to assess its anti-bribery system against BS10500. We started by interviewing and conducting a workshop for senior management and then carried out a comprehensive gap analysis. Following this, we made recommendations for improvement and worked with Pell Frischmann to re-engineer existing policies and processes, write new ones and strengthen its approach to risk management.

Where possible, changes were incorporated within the firm’s existing business management system (BMS) to make implementation more efficient and easier for staff to adopt.

We also conducted training and provided materials for future use.

Within six months of the start of the project, Pell Frischmann achieved BS10500 certification. The company was awarded the Queen’s Award for Enterprise 2015-2020.

Pell Frischmann operates throughout Europe, the Middle East, India and Asia.

What Pell Frischmann says

“Interchange assisted us in seeking BS 10500: 2011 ABMS certification. We found John to be an invaluable resource in helping us fully understand the requirements and how they applied to Pell Frischmann. John invested the time in getting to know us and our sector. After undertaking a gap analysis by talking to our staff and reviewing the business management system, John came up with solutions that were easy to implement. John is an excellent communicator and his anti-bribery training was meaningful and informative. All staff can now easily recognise and avoid the use of bribery by themselves and others.”
